Flint Hills Resources’ purpose in sponsoring the Council is to create value in the community. Engagement of the membership is vital to the furthering of effective projects which display that value. Therefore, members are expected to commit to a two-year term, attend as many meetings as possible in order to stay current with the group’s shared knowledge and to contribute their expertise in the project selection, planning and implementation process. Members are also expected to participate in at least one project per year. This participation can take a variety of forms including serving on a Task Force, volunteering at an event, writing/editing necessary documents or any other activity that moves the project forward.
The Steering Committee is the voice of the Council membership in planning and direction. With the sponsors and facilitator, members help plan the monthly Council meetings, provide guidance on projects and keep the Council on track. Chairs of active Task Forces also serve for the life of that project. Members of the current Steering Committee are: Gayle Gottlich, Chair; John Lennan, Michael Briones, Lois Huff and Alex Garcia.
